Chapter IV: Warehouse District

The Warehouse District was originally founded in the 19th century to store goods passing through New Orleans’ port. After the 1984 World’s Fair, the neighborhood was revitalized and transformed into the cultural and artistic hub it is today.

This neighborhood is filled with old industrial warehouses transformed into modern museums, art galleries, and contemporary restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.  These blocks offer a true industrial-arts city vibe, while also reflecting the colorful flair and architectural detail that makes New Orleans so magical.

Julia Street is lined with modern art galleries, and the art crawl on the first Saturday of each month draws a lively crowd.
